It's hit him again.
Before him, the vast wasteland stretches forever, its alabaster sands stirring despite the absence of wind. The sky burns crimson as if the clouds themselves have been set ablaze, the world's three moons aligned horizontally, little to large, like an interstellar arpeggio.
The boy curls his fingers tight around his cane, rips it from the sand, draws his shawl around his shoulders and continues his westward march. Ust'omo is near, and The Engine City calls to him, its steamsmiths
